On Sunday 6th August, Sebastian competed in the eighth WeatherTech Championship event of 2023 - the IMSA SportsCar Weekend. With a race length of 2 hours and 40 minutes featuring 14 turns and multiple elevation changes, this was certainly a challenging one. The race took place at Road America, which is 4.048 miles long, with Seb competing in AO Racing’s Porsche 911 ‘GT3 Rawr’.
The first two practice runs really showed what Rexy could do, as the team finished P1 and P4. After starting P13, AO Racing finished in 11th place overall, with some promising moments along the way.
“It was a tough afternoon out there, but we maintained a strong pace. I managed to hold onto the best lap of the overall race in the GTD class, up until the final minutes. We worked hard and Rexy was the 2nd best Porsche out there. The successful practice runs left us feeling positive, but we didn’t get those opportunities to climb the positions that we had our eyes on. There were some good learnings to take away from this race though, and I’m grateful to the team for all of the support.” - Priaulx.
Next up for Sebastian is the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway from 25th – 27th August.
